England the World Champions

A true Revolution in White Ball Cricket   ODI WC, 2015, England team got out from group stage by losing to Bangladesh at Adelaide Oval. That moment was a horrible one for a nation like England to feel. A test playing nation, unable to getting into top 8 teams in an ODI WC, in almost home alike condition was a huge shame. And it actually hurt the team very deeply, that inspired them to change their approach and style in the limited overs format. They made some changes in their system and that was initiated by their captain Eoin Morgan. They prepared a strong white ball team filled with power hitters and players with aggressive approach and players wanting to play different brand of cricket. They made separate teams and separate captains for test format and limited over format (ODIs & T20Is). They selected players with multitasking like both with batting and bowling abilities. The Revolution Starts:- After that setback, England has been a power house in white ball ...

Time for Transition

It’s time for Transition now   The time has come now for a complete changeover in team India. From the current set of players, there are most of players were part of that last ICC event, which was won by India, way back in 2013. Since that it’s been almost 10 years now, where we are still searching for that glory. The same set up is continued till now, but certainly failed in crunch moments. So, now with this T20 WC campaign is over, and the next one is in 2024, team India should try a new set of players in the combination.   With the next WC of 50 overs is very near from this time and as we are in the middle of the Test Championship in this cycle, so we can still continue with this core of players till next year. But post that we will also have to make that transition there. Most of these players are now at their end of their carrier and some are also with injury issues, so continuing with them might not be ideal.   For some players like Rohit, D...

What went wrong for us in T20 World Cup?

What went wrong for us in World Cup?   We certainly believe that, it was always the pressure of knockouts and big games cost us in last 9 or 10 years. With having an excellent team in these years, we were unable to get pass that hurdle. It feels more like an embarrassment, than failure or heartbreaks. Apart from that big match failure or choking, another big aspect to this event is lack of planning, which is sometimes get unnoticed.   If we particularly think of this year’s World Cup, then we can find, there were lack of proper planning, though our team management made us feel like we were fully prepared. Here are few points which could be questioned on our pre-WC planning.     1.    First one is the so called approach and template.   Ø A lot of talk were made around the aggressive approach and template post last year’s WC. But eventually, lacked it in most important point in this WC, where both our openers failed in terms of ...

The Wait Continues........

The Dream have broken once again   130 Crore people have got heartbreaks once again. All the prayers and cheers have failed today as Indian team have been thrashed by England in the 2 nd Semi-final by 10 wickets in Adelaide. Just a few hours ago we were dreaming about India vs Pakistan at the iconic MCG, in front of 1 Lakh audience but now the dream has over. We cannot see what players are doing and feeling right now, but the fans all over the world must be feeling broken at the moment. We could feel the pain of those fans who were at Australia, watching live to their team and heroes. They were already preparing for 13 th November, as they thought it will be easy for us to beat England and we will reach finals easily and win it but our over expectations hurt back us badly. We can say, we choked once again in big moment. But that’s been our story since 2014. It is 8 th consecutive ICC Tournament where we failed and the quest for the trophy continues. Since last one...

Pakistan Storms into the Finals

Pakistan Scripted History, New Zealand Choked Again If people are saying that, this T20 World Cup is the best WC since 2007, then we have got a perfect reason to believe in that. 27 th October, the day when Pakistan lost against Zimbabwe, everyone thought it’s over for them in this WC. From that situation reaching into knockouts is itself a miracle to happen. And Pakistan did that unreal thing. Yes, the destiny was there for them, who came as South Africa’s loss against Netherlands but still they played some really good cricket too to reach there. But imagining Pakistan reaching finals from there is absolutely crazy. All the credit to team Pakistan and their coaching staffs for maintaining that self-belief in the team and doing this stuff for their Nation and their fans. The Luck was there for them through which they reached semi-finals but winning there is completely depends on the performance on the given day. And today they have...

Into the Knockouts of WC

Image
Into the Knockouts   Defending Champions are out of the T20 World Cup It is hard for the Australian Cricket fans to believe that despite being the defending champions and being the host nation they are out from the T20 WC 2022. When they won the trophy last year in UAE, which were not the ideal conditions for them, everyone thought they will be clear favorite for this year’s T20 WC also as it was happening in their home conditions. But yesterday they have got a heartbreak as they are officially out of the tournament.   With New Zealand, England, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Ireland in the group it was always difficult for Australia. In group of death you cannot afford to lost momentum and every game becomes important for a team. The NRR becomes a huge factor in this situation. And in this tournament rain also played a huge factor. At the end Australia have disqualified just because of poor NRR. Points wise they were equal with other two qualifying teams New Zeal...
